“So, what’s going on with kontaktmag?”
This is a question I have been asked often lately. It’s my own fault. I like to surprise people. Keep them in the dark, then flip on the lights and yell “surprise!”
Remember when we went from this:
To this:
You guys had no idea that was going to happen. We had a party, hit the lights and “surprise!”, contact is now kontakt (you don’t have to say it with a quasi Euro accent but most people do).
So… surprise! kontakt is now kontaktmag (we apologize for the lack of party for this one).
What all this means is you won’t be finding kontakt magazine at Borders or your favorite coffee shop. It’s all right here, online where it belongs. Save your collective “awws” and “it was a great magazine”. It still is a great magazine and you don’t have to go looking for it to read it. Just bookmark the page and you can come back anytime. Or, better yet, subscribe to our RSS feed via email or RSS reader of your choice and you will know each time we post a new story.
Speaking of new stories, going online is giving us the ability to add so much more content. Right now we have more than 225 stories and over 2500 images on this site with 5-8 new ones added weekly. That will keep you busy. The site is organized the same way the magazine was, with the five main sections with subsections. There are also a couple of ways to find only the latest stories for when you don’t have the time to browse. The second row of the menu has a “Latest Articles” option all the way to the right. This will take you to a list and summary of the last 15 stories. A quicker way is halfway down the right column of the home page is a list of the latest 10 story titles with links.
Another feature of our web site is the ability to leave comments for every story. You are strongly encouraged to comment on any story including this rant. Let’s get some dialog going.
Let’s not keep this our little secret. At the bottom of every story is also buttons for sharing the articles through Facebook, Digg, Twitter, etc. Help us spread the word.
This is basically the first of my online Letters From The Publisher or LFTP as I am going to call it from now on. Expect one of these at least every Friday. I hope they’re entertaining and/or insightful, but most of all, I hope they elicit some response. I’d like to hear from you.
Take care,
Don Crossland
Great stuff. Nice to read some well written posts. A long way between them.
Hmmmm that’s cool.
I think this new format will have some great benefits. I look forward to being able to contribute to the effort!
I approve this letter.
Great 1st LFTP.
kontakt!
