Covet is a unique blend of fashion, music, art and design. And that’s exactly how Randy Krebs, the owner and primary designer of the store, comes across. With his rock-star hair, forward-thinking music sense and international fashion labels, Krebs is the personification of Covet.

The typical Covet shopper is urban, modern and confident. When designing the store, Kreb’s aspiration was to create a space that reflects the lifestyle of that client. The retail fixtures are clean and minimal, including tables from Blu Dot and a shelving system that floats away from the wall. These fixtures present the apparel in a simple, unassuming manner that perfectly aligns with the style of the merchandise. Design touches like Philippe Starck’s Ghost chair, artwork from Calle Henzel and Covet’s signature gray camouflage are stylish additions that prevent the store from becoming too sterile. The design does feel a bit masculine, which is a brilliant choice in an industry that typically bends over backwards to cater to the female clientele. Men and women alike feel modish and comfortable shopping in Covet.

Kreb’s vision for the store includes the new Salon Jo-el in the rear of the store, completing the concept of a lifestyle store. A conjoined salon and fashion boutique is a concept that originated in big, international cities and is catching on out here, with Covet leading the way. [photos by Don Crossland]
